Recycle Drop-Off Center

Directions to the York County Solid Waste Authority’s Public Recycle Drop-Off Center:

The Authority’s Public Recycling Drop-Off Center has RELOCATED TO: 2685 Blackthorne Court, York, PA 17406.  From Rt. 30:  Proceed north on Toronita Street.  Toronita turns into Blackbridge Road.  Proceed approximately 3/4 of a mile and turn left onto Blackgum Court.  Make the first left onto Blackthorne Court.  The new Recycling Drop-Off Center will be on your left.

The Recycle Drop-Off Center is open 7 days a week during daylight hours.

What Types of Recyclables Are Accepted at the Recycle Drop-Off Center:

Glass:
• Clear, blue, brown and green glass food & beverage containers
√ Rinse thoroughly to ensure they are free of contaminants and residue.
√ Remove caps or lids and dispose of them in the trash.
√ It is not necessary to remove labels and neck rings

Metal:
• Aluminum beverage cans
• Steel and bi-metal food & beverage cans, aerosol cans, paint cans
√ Rinse thoroughly to ensure they are free of contaminants and residue.
√ Remove caps or lids and dispose of them in the trash.
√ It is not necessary to remove labels

Plastic:
• Plastic containers #1 through #7
√ Rinse thoroughly to ensure they are free of contaminants and residue.
√ Remove caps or lids and dispose of them in the trash.
√ It is not necessary to remove labels and neck rings

Paper, Paperboard & Cardboard:
• All sizes of cardboard boxes
• Clean pizza boxes
• Paperboard packaging (i.e. cereal and tissue boxes)
• Shelf-stable and refrigerated food and beverage cartons (rinse cartons and remove and dispose of caps)
• EMPTY paper towel and toilet paper rolls
• Office paper (any color)
• Shredded paper (in CLEAR plastic bags)
• Newspapers and inserts
• Magazines, catalogs and brochures
• Envelopes and junk mail
• Paper bags
• Phone books and other soft cover books
√ Remove packaging (Styrofoam “peanuts,” plastic bubble wrap, liners, etc.)
√ Break down and flatten ALL boxes.

Clothing and Shoes:
Clean clothing and shoes are accepted in the Salvation Army drop-off bin.  If you have furniture, appliances or any other items for the Salvation Army, DO NOT BRING THEM TO THE RECYCLE DROP-OFF CENTER.  Contact the Salvation Army directly for information on donating these items.

Thank you for Recycling!  At the York County Recycle Drop-Off Center, more than 1,000 tons of material are collected for recycling annually.
